Places and Memories

Updated: Feb 17, 2020

CENTRAL BATHS

The home of Turd Stalking and Liferaft drills.

THE FROG & FRIGATE

Many a night scrumming with rugby clubs on the sawdust floor! The Frog is still there on Canute Street.

THE ANGEL

Many nights spent by most, if not all, in here! The Angel is still there near East Park Terrace!

THE WHITE SWAN

Near Townhill Park House and scene of the Great Battle of Itchen! Again the Swan is still going as a pub. Not bad that most of our watering holes still remain as pubs when so many across the UK have gone.

WOOLSTON & ITCHEN BRIDGE

If I recall Boatwork was run from a shed and slipway on the far bank near the bridge?

THE BARGATE

A famous landmark in town and a public convenience to one unfortunate member ( no names!).

ABOVE BAR IN THE SEVENTIES

Still have your flares anyone?

COBDEN BRIDGE

If we had a penny for everytime we crossed this one.....

ST MARYS

Hugh grant asking for directions. "Well blow me I didn't think I would have to go that far!"

THE GAUMONT

Ah...scene of so many concerts!

I still have my Whitesnake concert sweatshirt! Along with T-shirts and sweat shirts from Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Motorhead, UFO, Thin Lizzy and a few others tucked away somewhere.

Whitesnake Come An' Get It - June 5th 1981

AC/DC Highway To Hell Tour 27th January 1980 (Postponed from December)

Iron Maiden were the support act for Judas Priest, who would have thought!

Judas Priest Britsih Steel Tour 16th March 1981

MIDLAND BANK SOUTHAMPTON HIGH STREET

This was what a High Street Bank looked like back then, try finding one now!
