TPH CLASS OF '79...

Well here we are over 40 years on from a motley collection of young chaps from all over the UK, Iran, Oman and even Cornwall, and from all backgrounds, but all with one thing in common. In 1979 at Townhill Park House we all came together as Merchant Navy Engineer Cadets. At the time we were embarking on an exciting new career in the merchant navy that would take us all over the world in passenger ships, cargo ships and tankers (not forgetting the banana boats).

...TO '83.

We were joined over our 4 year cadetship by others who became part of our course and good friends and we parted with other good friends who left or went on to other colleges. We did not know at the time that at the end of our four years many of us would be made redundant and embark on different careers. A good number fulfilled their careers rising to Chief Engineer but for most we ended up in such a diverse range of careers, some far from the sea. This site is brought to you by the kindness and generosity of Cecil Pugh, David Nelson, Duncan Howie, David Phipp, Ian Murdoch, Mark Layton, Michael Hartnack, Peter Irlam, Rob Storey and Bob Fuller
